In the vast majority of cases, nursing staff from abroad start out as nursing assistants. After an adaptation measure and successful recognition, you can work as a nursing specialist.
  • What is a deficit notice?
The recognition authority checks whether you can work directly as a nursing specialist or whether there are still deficiencies in your German training. If this is the case, you will receive a deficit notice. This notice includes all deficits that you then have to compensate for in Germany through an adjustment measure.
  • What is an adaptation measure?
With an adaptation measure you can compensate for the deficits compared to German training. There are two types: adaptation course or knowledge test. When you attend an adaptation course, you learn theoretical and practical knowledge in a nursing school. This duration of the course is based on the deficits in your deficit notice. With a knowledge test, you can prepare for an exam independently or with the support of a preparatory course. The knowledge test consists of a maximum of 4 modules and can be repeated once. You have the right to choose. We and your employer will inform and support you.
